We are Educated & Credentialed

Cathie  has been working with dogs since 2004 and proudly earned her CPDT-KA, Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed, designation in 2010.
The CCPDT, Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers,  is the leading independent certifying organization for the dog professional training industry.  All trainers working at CCC must have credentials, proof of education, and / or may be logging hours to acquire their own CCPDT Certification.
Thousands of Professional Dog Trainers across North America hold CCPDT certification, as a mark of professional distinction, ethical practices and science-based training methods.
In order to achieve this professional designation, the CCPDT has very high standards, relying not only on education and an exam to measure the applicants knowledge of science based training, but applicants must also have logged 300 hours of industry experience, 225 of that must be actual hands on training experience.  No other certifying organization, as we know it, requires this amount of hands on training experience prior to certification.
To maintain the CPDT-KA designation, Certificants must complete 36 continuing education units (CEUs) by completing approved educational events during the 3 year re-certification period.  Cathie regularly exceeds 36 CEUs during this period.   Once again, we are not aware of any other governing body that requires proof of continuing education in order to maintain their professional designation, nor any renewal process.
Cathie's commitment to continuing education ensures that she is using up to date, verifiable information to teach her clients how to raise, train and help their dogs.
Cathie is proudly Fear-Free Certified, a member of the International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants (IAABC) and the Pet Professional Guild of Force-Free Professionals.

Customer Testimonial:

"Cathie has been very easy to talk to and has a plethora of knowledge about reactive dogs. She was very accommodating to our personal needs and answered questions in a clear manner. She has provided many learning resources about training and dog body language, as well as opportunities for us to practice our training.  She offers a semi-weekly reactive dog meet which is an excellent way to practice training in a controlled environment. It's free or by donation (to the local animal shelter) so I would recommend it to anyone seeking such opportunities. If you are looking for a trainer who uses only positive reinforcement and no averse tools or training methods, Cathie is the one for you!"
